I have a passion.
A passion to follow Christ. Now, this is not how I have always been, but it is me NOW. I have a passion for my Church and all the people I have gotten to know who have helped give me this passion.
It all started with PCC. I am proud of my Church and talk about it a lot. Some people get it, others kinda get it, and some don't see it as a passion and get defensive about their church. I am not talking about my Church to annoy or say my church is better than your church...but some take it that way.
So, this is what I am saying....
Powhatan Community Church CHANGED my life. For many reasons:
1. It was comfortable to go there.
2. I wasn't judged for my past faults or even the ones I still make.
3. The music woke you up to God, it didn't put you asleep to Him.
4. The service is different every Sunday. It was not the same thing with the same words and the same 1 hour and I am outta here attitude.
5. I learned that God wanted a relationship with ME.
6. I wasn't told that if I didn't follow every rule I would end up in Hell. (but I do understand there are things He wants me to do so I can join Him one day).
7. I let Him in because of #1-6. This was the final step in accepting Jesus and God into my life.
When I talk about MY CHURCH, I speak with Passion to show all how you can follow Christ and be happy and have all that He wants you to have. I have that now because God worked through the people at PCC. And now He works through me.
But I will say this about YOUR church:
If you are happy, I mean super happy (not just satisfied that you did your 1 hour duty)with your church, that is great. And I urge you to spread the word to your friends and family that have not accepted Jesus and walk every day with Him.
BUT if you leave church and not really think of it again until the next Sunday, if your service does not make you want more Jesus in your life, if you feel empty with your current position with God, if your service doesn't move you to WANT to do more, be more....then you need to try MY CHURCH!
We don't want perfect people. We are all broken in some way or another. And we accept each other for that and work together as a church to change our lives and the lives of others through the Word of God. We are not perfect people. We make mistakes and all that too. And what is so cool about PCC is that everyone is not in the same place when it comes to their relationship with God. Some are still thinking about maybe starting one, some are just starting, some have a relationship and want more...
And we turn Words into Actions...we don't just read the Bible. We DO the work the Bible tells us to.
It's real. It's in your face about what God wants from us and all that He can do/does for us. His Word is what we strive to live by and it is brought to us so we can apply it to today, apply it to our lives, and learn more and do more and be more. I love my Bible. I read my Bible. I study my Bible with my husband and friends and it brings us closer to each other and I have relationships much deeper and meaningful than I ever have had before in MY ENTIRE LIFE.
So if you are lacking that passion about Christ. I extend an invitation to try PCC. It doesn't mean it is a fit for everyone. But if you are looking for a new way to be closer to Christ, to have a relationship with him. Just you and Him. Then I urge you to at least give PCC a chance. And let your guard down. And soak it in. You will leave thinking about the sermon. It will stay in your thoughts for a long time. You will want to talk about it to others and dig deeper.
But don't be fine with a so-so relationship with your church and God. That is not what He wants from us. And He has so much to give to us.
That is my Passion.
