God has a plan?

So lately, I have heard a lot of people saying something along the way of "God has a plan for you". And it makes me wonder....does He plan the "bad stuff" too. Now I know God is good. I know he wants the best for us. I do. But when people say things like that, it makes me wonder about things. Bad things that happen in our lives. Are they all a part of the plan? Does God mean for them to happen to us so we learn lessons? He HAS to know those things are going to happen, right? He is the all knowing God. So, why aren't some of them stopped? Or why are some stopped, but not all?
I know the "free will" thing and I get it...to a point. Why did God gives us free will if some people take advantage of the bad things? I have had it expalined to me that He gave us free will and didn't MAKE us love him. He wants us to love him and do right because WE want to. But that still leaves a lot of questions. I know no one has all the answers (besides Him of course), but it does make you wonder.
And if I choose to belive he has a plans for everyone.....do I have to believe Robbie was killed on purpose, because it was a part of HIS plan?
People who have not been "tested" seem to find it very easy to say "It must be a part of God's plan"....until the bad things happen to them.
I do not doubt God. Don't get confused here. But does it make me wonder about the "bad things" in life? yes.

one piece of knowledge that my ex did leave me with and I truly believe is that many things in life that happen, especially the bad, are the affect of sin in the world. not yours, not mine, not anyone specific neccessarily, but that fact that there is sin. God made us to be like Him, perfect, no sin. a perfect place, no sin. a perfect world, no sin. our free will changed that. the affect is what God didn't plan. just my thoughts and I have thought about this a lot and used it in many converstations. what do you think?

I agree with Susan L. God's original plan for our world was one without sin. But He did/does give us a choice. I believe He knew we (mankind) would sin (hence the whole Jesus plan), but He still gave/gives us the choice. God doesn't wish any sin, but now we have sin in our world.
He does have a plan for your life! I don't think ANY of us has followed the plan He wanted, but He can still make good things come out of our sin, and He still makes plan B, C, D....
