Well, today is the day. Voting has been in our faces for weeks now.....one day to determine the next President. Here is my dilemma: We (Powhatan teachers) have to be at school at 9am and we are stuck there til 5. I know parent teacher conferences are a part of my job and I agree with them. BUT, that only leaves mornings and evenings (when polls are normally busy) to vote. In addition, students are out of school so I have a 5 year old to stand in line with me. His grandma is not getting him til 8:30am. SO i am frustrated with my choices.....I applaud Chesterfield County for putting conferences on another day and making today a teacher work day. That decision, from what I understand, was made due to the estimated number of voters that will come out today and the their schools are used for voting stations. BUT, it allows Chesterfield teachers to get out at some point to vote, not be stuck in school waiting on parents to show up after they have had their chance to vote. Powhatan changed their P/T conference times from 8-4 to 9-5 so parents can get out and vote. That was an email from our superintendent a few days ago....so do they care if WE get to vote. I know some of you will tell me this is an excuse, but I assume that will be the people who don't have kids (especially kids with special needs that don't understand standing in lines for hours), so think before you leave a comment on how lame it is that I probably will not get to vote.
BTW, this is awesome...if it were so simple to determine from a dance off!!
