Our Children...

In Anatomy Class we are studying the nervous system. We have been learning about ALD. Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, is a genetically determined neurological disorder that affects 1 in every 17,900 boys worldwide. The presentation of symptoms occurs between the ages of 4 and 10, and affects the brain with demyelination. It is a terrible disease. Watch the movie Lorenzo's Oil if you want to learn more about it and see what love and parenting can actually mean.

I see the suffering this child endures and I cry. Why do these things happen to children? Why don't they happen to child molesters, murderers, ....bad people.

I sit in class and my students see me cry over the pain this child goes through...I never cried over a child's suffering until I had my own.

What a change in my life my son has made.....all for the better.

I often wonder what kind a person I would be without children. Cannot imagine life any other way..

Kids sure do change everything, even the mean rowdy ones like I have! I always said I never wanted to get married and didn't want to have kids (once I became an adult), and look how that turned out? But now I can't imagine it any other way. I see life with and through my children's eyes, even with all the struggles. I love it, and them, the good the bad and the ugly!!
